For isolation of endophytic fungi, plant tissues were primarily washed with tap water, then surface sterilized by rinsing in 75% ethanol for 1 minute, followed by 5 minutes in 3% sodium hypochlorite (active ingredient). Disinfested pieces were then washed with distilled water, damp dried and plated onto culture media PDA and PCA (Schulz et al. 1993). Fungi growing from the margins of plant tissues were transferred separately into new culture media and purified by hyphal tip or single spore methods. After isolation of endophytic fungi, some isolates were identified as Sordaria fimicola (Roberge ex Desm.) Ces. & De Not.
