First report of the Commelina communis from Iran

Abstract

In the investigation of plants growing in the tea plantations of the Caspian regions (north of Iran), a specimen belonging to the family Commelinaceae was collected which was identified as Commelina communis L. The characteristic features of the plant are as follows:Annual herb, to more than 1; stems procumbent to ascendant, branched from stems root at the basal nodes; leaves sessile, or subpetiolate; leaf sheaths cylindrical, glabrous, with margins pubescent or pilose; leaf blades ovate-lanceolate to ovate-elliptic, 3–7 × 1–3 cm, glabrous to pubescent, acute to acuminate; inflorescence cincinnus, subtended by a broadly cordate spathe of 1–2.5 × 1–3 cm; peduncles or stalks 0.8–3.5 cm; sepals ovate, membranous, two party fused; the two upper petals rounded-obovate, shortly clawed at base, blue to indigo, lower petals much smaller, ovate-lanceolate, white. Three anticous stamens fertile, three posticous infertile; ovary ellipsoid, 2 mm long. Fruit dehiscent, ellipsoid, capsulate; capsule with two locules each containing two seeds, glabrous, brown, 4.5–8 mm long; seeds brown or brownish yellow, semiellipsoid, flat on 1 surface, rugose, irregularly pitted, truncate at one end, 3.8–4 × 2.2–3 mm.

Abstract [Persian]

در بررسی گیاهان باغ‌های چای شمال کشور، نمونه‌ای متعلق به تیره Commelinaceae جمع‌آوری گردید که طبق مطالعات به عمل آمده به نام .Commelina communis L شناسایی گردید. مشخصات ریخت‌شناختی این گونه به شرح زیر است: گیاه یکساله، به طول تا بیش از یک متر؛ ساقه گسترده تا بالا رونده، منشعب از گره‌های تحتانی؛ برگ‌ها بدون دمبرگ یا تقریبا دمبرگ‌دار؛ غلاف برگ‌ها استوانه‌ای، معمولا بدون کرک، با حاشیه‌های کرک‌دار؛ برگ‌ها سرنیزه‌ای-تخم‌مرغی تا تخم‌مرغی-بیضوی، به ابعاد 3-1 × 7-3 سانتی‌متر، بدون کرک یا در حاشیه کرک‌دار، نوک‌تیز تا نوک‌دار شونده؛ گل‌آذین گرزن دم‌عقربی، احاطه شده با اسپات (چمچه) قلبی شکل پهن، به ابعاد 3-1 × 5/2-1 سانتی‌متر؛ اسپات (چمچه) روی پایه یا دم‌گل‌آذین به طول 5/3-8/0 سانتی‌‌متر؛ کاسبرگ‌ها تخم‌مرغی، غشایی، دو عدد چسبیده در پایه؛ دو گلبرگ فوقانی آبی تا نیلی، گرد-واژتخم‌مرغی، در پایه ناخنک‌دار؛ گلبرگ تحتانی کوچک، تخم‌مرغی-نیزه‌ای، سفید؛ میله پرچم ظریف، پرچم‌ها سه عدد جلویی بارور، سه عدد پشتی نابارور و صلیبی شکل؛ تخمدان بیضوی، به طول 2 میلی‌متر؛ میوه شکوفا، کپسول؛ کپسول با دو حجره، هرکدام حاوی دو عدد دانه؛ بدون کرک، قهوه‌ای رنگ، به طول 8-5/4 میلی‌متر؛ دانه قهوه‌ای تا زرد مایل به قهوه‌ای، نیمه‌بیضوی، مسطح در یک سمت، در راس بریده، چروکیده، با فرورفتگی‌های نامنظم، به ابعاد 3-2/2 × 4-8/3 میلی‌متر.
